Seven strategic science use cases from intentionally diverse disciplinesearth and atmospheric science, finance, chemistry, astronomy, civil engineering, genomics, and food sciencewere selected to demonstrate the potential of a federated cloud in broadening cyberinfrastructure impact.
These use cases will allow us to explore data analysis techniques such as MapReduce, data stream processing, and machine learning and their applicability to different disciplines. We will document the tools, workflows, challenges, and best practices for each science case. Requirements have been defined and the creation of VMs and proof of concepts are well underway.
